Obituary

Brenda Joy Benthall, age 65, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 8:04 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.  She was born July 8, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of William and Margaret (Long) Thompson.

On June 6, 1981, she married Bob Benthall, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on July 1, 2000.

Brenda and her husband, Bob owned and operated B&B Storage in Lampe, Missouri for 19 years and owned various Resorts in Missouri.  She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed painting and crafting.

She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Oehlschlager and her husband, John, of Mt. Vernon; son, Joe Benthall of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Amelia and Olivia Oehlschlager; two brothers, Terry Thompson and his wife, Margaret, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Dale Thompson and his wife, Stephanie of Barnhart, Missouri; three sisters, Sandra Brown and her husband, Jay and Penne Thompson, all of Festus, Missouri and Gail Thompson of Barnhart; her significant other, Jerry Husk, of Shell Knob, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, William and Margaret, husband, Bob and two brothers, Billy and Harold Thompson, preceded her in death.

A memorial service, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Covenant Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to any animal shelter in Brenda’s name, in care of the funeral home.
