James Everett (Jim) Rice
James Everett “Jim” Rice, age 83, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at his home. He was born June 30, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Kenneth and Jewell (McInnch) Rice.
James was a 1952 graduate of Blackwell High School in Blackwell, Oklahoma and attended Pasadena Nazarene College in Pasadena, California. He served two years in the United State Air Force during the Korean War. After serving, he attended California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California and received his Animal Husbandry degree in 1960. He worked for Dayco Products in Springfield, Missouri, was a farmer, and loved horse racing.
On January 13, 1968, he married Julia Sauer-Robertson, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia; two daughters, Susan Todd of Star, Idaho and Beverly Rice of Moscow, Idaho; two sons, Jimmy Rice of Star, Idaho and Brady Rice of Washington; two stepdaughters, Saundra Beasley of Springfield, Missouri and Margarette Robertson of La Russell, Missouri; one sister, Evelyn Short and her husband, Craig, of Texas; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several cousins.
His parents, Kenneth and Jewell, sister, Irene Cleland and grandson, Bruce Robertson preceded him in death.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller, Missouri, will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Association in care of the funeral home.
