John Walter Weldin

Obituary

John Walter Weldin, age 75, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 4:18 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.  He was born January 19, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William Ashton and Juanita Mae (Locke) Weldin.

John was a 1960 graduate of Oxnard High School in Oxnard, California.  He was a Radio Teletype Operator for the United State Army during the Vietnam Era.  He was a supervisor for Dailey Investments in California from 1967 to 1988.  In 1988 John moved back to Mt. Vernon where he was a paper route carrier for the Springfield News Leader and the Joplin Globe until he retired in2007.  He was of the Christian faith.

On October 27, 1966, he married Gayle Ann Principe in Ventura, California.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gayle; four children, Ashton Weldin, Kerry Lopez, Zachary Weldin and his wife, Alisha, and Holly Zullig and her husband, Zachary all of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Richard Weldin and his wife, Peggy and George Weldin, both of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His parents, William and Juanita, sister, Barbara Beal and four brothers, William, Donald, Kenneth and Paul Weldin, preceded him in death.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I knew John from his Daughter Holly. John was a very nice man, he was always smiling and very loving to everyone! He was greatly loved by many people. He will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers will be with the family! John is now with a lot of his family and at peace, this is something good to try to think about. I love you all very much! I am very sorry by your loss. John was a special man, always smiling even if he didn't feel well. He has been surrounded by the love of his family and died in peace knowing he was going to the Lord. Celebrate the greatness of God's love and don't be troubled by this.

Thank you Marsha, My father loved us very much and was a Christian man. I know he is with the lord. He was very appreciative of the VA clinic in MV and loved our little town. Thank you for your sympathy and condolences.
