Juliah Lee Petree
Juliah Lee Petree, age 85, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born July 17, 1932, in Gower, Missouri, the daughter of Julius and Violet Marie (Greenstreet) Shaw.
On March 22, 1951, she married Larence Dean Petree, in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2005.
Juliah was a homemaker and after her kids were older she worked at J.C. Penney and The Examiner-Enterprise Newspaper in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After her husband Larence retired they moved to Mt. Vernon where she was a 20 year volunteer at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, member of the book club, red hat club, quilting group, Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church and loved to play Yahtzee, Bingo and watch the St. Louis Cardinals play.
She is survived by her daughters, Dena Richison and her husband, Bill, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nancy Brown and her husband, Mark, of Bartlesville; son, Loyd Petree and his wife, Ellen of Tulsa; three sisters, Patti Salsig and her husband, George, of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeanne Archer and her husband, Larry of Lathrop, Missouri and Glenda Casto and her husband, Glen, of Butler, Missouri; son-in-law-Mike Murphy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and many special friends in Mt. Vernon.
Juliah’s family and friends meant everything to her. She was the glue that held the family together. She was loved by many and will be missed more than words can say.
Her parents, Julius and Violet, husband, Larence, daughter, Rhonda Murphy and six sisters, preceded her in death.
A funeral service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church, north east of Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the church.
Memorial donations may be payable to the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
