LaVada Vesta Root
LaVada Vesta Root, age 79, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 2:52 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Cox Monett Hospital in Monett, Missouri. She was born August 21, 1937, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Alex and Edith (Garner) Howard.
LaVada attended high school in Modesto, California. LaVada and her husband, Don were the owners and operators of Don’s Crossroads Grocery in Miller.
On December 7, 1975, she married Donald Jack Root, in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2010.
She is survived by one brother, Winford Howard and his wife, Sandra, of Marionville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Yvonne Spencer of Yuma, Arizona; brother-in-law, Gene Root, of Thyme, Wyoming; and many other nieces, nephews and close friends.
Her parents, Alex and Edith, husband, Donald, a twin sister and three brothers, preceded her in death.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Campground Cemetery, southeast of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations may be made payable to American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.
