Mary Cecile (St. Clair) Orr-Masters
Mary Cecile (St. Clair) Orr- Masters, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 5:23 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born February 14, 1924, in Sammy Lane, Missouri, the daughter of James and Lillian (Evens) St. Clair.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of Blue Eye High School in Blue Eye, Missouri. She was employed as a seamstress at the Anderson Uniform Company and worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the Miller Assembly of God Church, where she was a member of the women’s club and was a teacher for the Sunshine Kids.
On September 15, 1990, she married Arliss Masters in Cassville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2001.
She is survived by four sons, Sidney Orr and his wife, Carolyn, of Woodstock, Georgia, Patrick Orr and his wife, Mary Lou, of Pittsburg, Kansas, Leon Masters and his wife, Esther, of Webb City, Missouri and Edwin Masters and his wife, Glenda, of Modesto, California; two daughters, Lilli Elfrink and her husband, Elmer, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Elenora Hill and her husband, A.B., of Miller; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, James and Lillian, first husband, James Harold Orr, second husband, Arliss Masters, two sons, Sam Orr and Kenneth Masters, 13 siblings, five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery, northeast of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Miller or Adult & Teen Challenge Mid America at Cape Girardeau, in care of the funeral home.
